Molly Smitten-Downes is a British singer-songwriter from the United Kingdom, known professionally as Molly. She works in pop and is an accomplished pianist.
Early life and education
She attends Our Lady’s Convent School in Loughborough and begins performing in stage productions from the age of eight. She studies music at Leicester College and later at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey.
Recording work
Her acoustic EP Fly Away with Me appears in 2011. The EP track “Shadows” is sampled by grime artist Marger and is also released on iTunes through 360 Records. She also releases “Beneath The Lights”, a collaboration with Swedish producer Anders Hansson through his Dream Beats project, and “Never Forget”, a collaboration with hardcore producer Darren Styles, written and recorded in 2012.
Awards and Eurovision
She wins the Urban/Pop category at Live and Unsigned 2012 and receives a separate Best Song award at The Best Of British Unsigned Music Awards for “Lost Generation” in 2013. In 2014, the BBC selects her to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with “Children of the Universe”, which she writes herself.

Smitten-Downes describes her aim as writing music that breaks down political barriers.
