Modo Stare

Modo Stare is a UK electronic and indie electronic group led by Jon Headley, a musician, writer and producer. Active since 2012, the project is built around contrasts between old and new, and acoustic and electronic sounds. Its arrangements combine instruments such as 100-year-old harmoniums and out-of-tune pianos with synthesizers, bass synths, antique cuckoo clocks and distorted drum loops.

The project’s first full-length album, This Is How We Know What Love Is, is planned as the debut album. In 2012, Headley works on developing the project’s sound and raises funds through a Kickstarter campaign to finish recording in the studio. Modo Stare then releases its first EP, the five-track We Dream Of Mountains, as a free download for supporters. The EP appears on Noisetrade’s “New & Notable” list and reaches the site’s Top Downloads chart.

The track Lud is filmed as the project’s first music video by a South African filmmaker in Durban, and the release is described as international. Modo Stare plays its first live show in June 2013 and wins a place on the Leeds & Reading Festival bill. The project also continues working on live performances and explores material for a second album.
