Model/Actriz is a Boston-based group active since 2016, made up of Cole Haden, Ruben Radlauer and Jack Wetmore. The band works in noise rock and post-punk, with an experimental pop edge, and is also associated with post-punk, no wave and dance-punk.

Background

Formed in Boston, the group later becomes based in Brooklyn. Haden comes from Delaware, while Wetmore and Radlauer come from Southern California. Their music draws on a range of underground scenes and carries a dark tone that runs through the band’s sound.

Sound and influences

Model/Actriz combines danceable noise, visceral post-punk and elements of house music. The band is compared with acts such as Death Grips, Savages, These Arms Are Snakes and The Birthday Party, reflecting its harsh and confrontational approach. Its live performances are described as mirroring the way the record unfolds.

Their debut EP, AVA, presents the trio’s mixture of noise, punk and house music in an especially intense form.
