MNDR

MNDR is the professional name of Amanda Lucille Warner, an American singer, songwriter and record producer. She performs under this moniker from 2005, initially while active in the Bay Area, and the name comes from a school nickname shortened from “Mandar”. Its spelling and design draw on early Detroit techno, early Chicago house and German techno.

Career

Warner relocates from Oakland, California, to New York City in mid-2009 to work as a songwriter for hire after a publishing company scout offers her a deal to write for mainstream artists. She then meets producer Peter Wade, and after months of writing with him, he suggests that she release music under her own name. Warner and Wade upload four tracks to Myspace in 2009, and these later become MNDR’s debut EP, E.P.E.

MNDR rises to wider attention after appearing on Mark Ronson & The Business Intl’s 2010 single “Bang Bang Bang”, which reaches number six on the UK Singles Chart. Warner describes MNDR as a group with Peter Wade in the sense that they write and make all of the music, while she performs as a solo artist.
