MMOTHS

MMOTHS is the recording name of Jack Colleran, an electronic musician from Newbridge, County Kildare, Ireland. Born in 1993, he starts playing piano at the age of five and performs in several bands while at school. In 2010 he begins making music on a laptop using a demo version of Ableton Live, and a week later he puts a demo online under the name MMOTHS. The name is a play on “Motts,” a local term for girls.

After releasing several tracks online, he is approached by Los Angeles label SQE Music and signs to the label. SQE releases his self-titled debut EP in 2012. The EP includes guest vocals from Superhumanoids and Keep Shelly In Athens and is described as a blend of electronic music with a strong sense of intimacy. In 2013 he releases Diaries, an EP featuring vocals by Holly Miranda and Young & Sick.

MMOTHS performs at South by Southwest in 2012. He also supports At the Drive-In at the O2 Academy Brixton and opens for Aphex Twin. His music is associated with ambient, ambient techno, downtempo, electronic, pop and techno.
