MJ Hibbett is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in 1970 in the United Kingdom. He performs both solo and with his band The Validators as MJ Hibbett & The Validators, and is also associated with Finnegan's Wake, The Fabians, Chris Lawson And The Unknowns, The Masters Of Nothing, Durham Ox Singers, The K-Stars, Voon, The Council and Jane and John.

Hibbett is often compared with Billy Bragg and Richard Digance. He comes to wider online attention in 2000 with “Hey Hey 16K”, a song about the ZX Spectrum and other home microcomputers of the 1980s. The track gains further notice when an animated video for it, made by Rob Manuel, appears in 2004.

He later works with Manuel again on the video for “The Gay Train”. In 2004, he also gains national exposure in the UK through regular performances of “The Fair Play Trophy (Again)” on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music show; the song’s lyrics are revised for each performance to reflect events in the UEFA European Football Championship.

Most of Hibbett’s songs are released on his own label, Artists Against Success. He is an advocate of the ukulele and uses it for solo performances. He lives and works in London and works as a database administrator. He also holds a degree from Leicester Polytechnic, now De Montfort University, and attends Deacon’s School.
