Mister Strange

Mister Strange is a Manchester-based group that describes its sound as “Wunder-Fuzz”. The band builds a loud, high-energy style from punk, garage rock and psych influences, with a heavy emphasis on fuzz and distortion. Its live shows are noted for their intensity, and its 2021 debut EP, I, draws on the crude, fuzz-punk sound associated with The Stooges and The Ramones, alongside later garage-psych acts such as Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees.

Line-up

The group is led by vocalist and drummer Tomas Walmsley, who is also a member of Fruit Tones. The rest of the band consists of Callum Rogers on bass, Ste Bradbury on guitar and vocals, and Daryl Taylor on guitars.

Style

The band combines punk, garage and psych elements into a noisy, tightly controlled form of what it presents as organised chaos. Its listed tags also place it within garage rock, psychedelic rock, garage punk, hard rock and US rock.
