Miss Melody

Miss Melody is a Spanish house DJ and producer. She grows up in Spain and begins working with music at an early age through her father’s club in Benidorm, where she helps out from the age of 18 and starts playing records there. Her early career develops on the Spanish club and festival circuit, where organisers of major summer events in the coastal resorts help make her name known across the country.

Early career in Spain

She performs at clubs including the Palladium, Ministry of Sound, Privilege and Ku. While studying law in Spain, she decides to focus on DJ work instead. She also plays major venues such as Splash in Madrid, where she performs for an audience of 12,000 people. In Spain, her style is mainly techno and trance.

Move to the Netherlands and Salinas

In 1997 her father leaves the Benidorm club for the Netherlands, and Miss Melody later gives up her life in Spain to take over his beach club in Scheveningen. She rebuilds it as Salinas, a venue that becomes known for large-scale parties. For seven years she manages events there, including Salinas Sundance, a Sunday party running from morning into late evening. The format grows from around 400 attendees to 2,500. She also runs events called Salinas on the beach and Salinas on Tour, which draw crowds of about 5,000.

Music style and bookings

After moving to the Netherlands, she shifts towards groovy techno, which she feels closer to her own taste. She is booked for events including Crazyland, Lunapark, Trance Life, Impulz, Wasteland, Free Festival and the Fast Forward Dance Parade. She remains in demand in Spain and also plays in Miami, Mexico, Egypt and Japan.

Production work

In 2000 she sets up her own production company, which helps her productions establish a place in the national and international market. She works with Raúl Cremona, Abel Ramos and Randy Kanta. Together with Kanta and Cremona she co-produces

the 2004 track “In Silence”, which is inspired by her. In 2006 she produces “Salinas 2006”, which reaches number one and stays there for three weeks in both Spain and the Netherlands. In 2007 she produces “United By Sound” with Dutch producer Melvin Warning; the track gains support from Armin van Buuren, Marco V and Ferry Corsten.

Performance style

She is known for spending significant time selecting music and travelling widely to find what she wants. Her performances combine a strong beat, clear composition and original sound, and her visual style also contributes to her connection with audiences.
