Miss Chief is a garage pop noir project led by Melissa Loera. The act combines garage rock, jazz, surf rock and indie influences, and is described as moving between darker, more melancholic material and rhythm-driven sections suited to dancing.

The project is presented as having a central figure, Miss Chief, with a supporting group referred to as the “miss & misters” providing the backing sound. Its style is characterised by a contrast between brooding, cold-toned songs about heartbreak and more energetic, storm-like passages.
