Miss 600 are an acoustic duo from Derby, United Kingdom, made up of Hannah Garner on vocals and David Amar on drums, lead guitar and bass guitar. The group begins after the pair spends time gigging around the Derby area while Garner also runs a YouTube channel featuring acappella cover versions recorded to webcam.

The channel attracts a large online following and leads to the duo being spotted at an open mic night at Ryans Bar in Derby by Nottingham producers Christopher Bucknall and Robert de Fresnes. They sign to Cubit Recordings in autumn 2010, and work with the label on developing their sound and image.

Miss 600’s debut album, Buying Time, is recorded by spring 2011. It presents pop material with a strong jazz influence and includes collaborations with Nottingham singer-songwriter Sam Beeton, reggae singer Maxi Priest and former RCA Records artist Sonna Rele. One track, Is This Love, uses a sample from Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack to the 1977 film Il Gatto, cleared with the composer’s permission through his publishers Kassner Music.

Their debut single, Twist, receives regional radio and press support, including coverage from the Derby Telegraph, Nottingham Post and Bliss Magazine, and also gains airplay support from BBC Radio 2 producers, leading to inclusion on the station’s B playlist in June 2011.
