Military Wives

Military Wives is a British choir formed by Gareth Malone through the fourth series of the BBC television series The Choir. The choir is formed at British military locations in Devon, including Chivenor and Plymouth, and it brings together the wives and girlfriends of military personnel deployed to Afghanistan.

The choir appears at the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, forming the climax of the television series. Its debut single, “Wherever You Are”, becomes the UK Christmas number one in 2011.

After that release, further choirs are started, and the album In My Dreams features five choirs, adding Portsmouth, CTCRM Lympstone and Catterick Garrison to the original choir. The Military Wives Choirs Foundation is then created to support the founding of Military Wives choirs across the UK, with £1 from the sale of each album going to support the foundation. Military Wives choirs number 31 across the UK.
