Midday Committee
Midday Committee are a four-piece pop punk band from Portsmouth on the south coast of England. The line-up consists of Rich Sanders, Will Cahill, Adam Hall and Kurtis Maiden. The band forms in early 2011 after Rich brings in Kurtis Maiden on drums and his cousin William Cahill on vocals and lead guitar, following the end of a previous band. Adam Hall, a close friend, joins on bass.
Early activity and live shows
The group plays its first show in May 2011. After starting out in Portsmouth, it begins travelling to nearby Southampton and, within a year, also plays in Bournemouth and London. During this period it gains road experience and starts to build a live following.
Recordings and releases
Midday Committee records its first EP at Envy Studios, a local studio. Good Kids, Bad Judge Of Character is a four-track self-released and self-funded EP issued in September 2011. The band is satisfied with the result and continues to focus on live dates while developing its sound.
Supporting slots and influences
The band lands opening spots for Kids Can’t Fly, Mallory Knox, Attention Thieves and Verses. Playing with touring artists leads the group to pursue a clearer and more professional recording. The description of the release process suggests a band shaped by the aim of making a stronger recorded product, while remaining active in the UK pop punk and easycore scene.
