Michele Stodart

Michele Stodart is a Trinidad-born English singer-songwriter and vocalist, best known as the bassist and a vocalist in the UK folk-pop band The Magic Numbers. She performs in the group alongside her older brother, Romeo Stodart.

Early life

Stodart is born in Trinidad in the Caribbean to a Scottish father and a Portuguese mother. Her mother is an opera singer and also has her own television show. After the family leaves Trinidad during an Islamic coup attempt in 1990, she is raised in New York. In the mid-1990s, she moves to London with her brother; at that point Romeo is 16 and Michele is 10.

The Magic Numbers

In 2002, Stodart forms The Magic Numbers in Ealing, United Kingdom, with Angela Gannon and Sean Gannon, alongside Romeo Stodart. The band releases the albums The Magic Numbers in 2005, Those the Brokes in 2006 and The Runaway in 2010. Her work with the group establishes her as a singer and bassist within a band associated with folk-pop, rock and pop.

Solo work

After The Magic Numbers take a break following The Runaway, Stodart begins performing solo in 2011. She releases her debut solo album, Wide-Eyed Crossing, in 2012.
