Mia Dora

Mia Dora is a Glasgow group associated with house, electronic and deep house, and their sound also draws on techno, hip hop and garage. The act forms in 2010 and develops a style described as energetic and emotionally driven.

Early recognition and remixes

They first attract wider attention through a remix of “Get The Get”, the lead single from Roots Manuva’s 4EVEREVOLUTION, issued via Big Dada. That version becomes one of the notable tracks of 2012 and receives regular support on BBC Radio 1, XFM and Capital Radio. The remix also draws attention from radio DJs including Mary Anne Hobbs, Gilles Peterson, Rob Da Bank and MASH.

Releases and labels

Mia Dora continues with a steady run of releases and remixes across 2012 and 2013. Their debut Romanticise EP appears on Glasgow label High Sheen and is described as a four-track club-oriented house release. They then issue Occam’s Razor on Moda Black, followed by “Ill-defined”, another release for High Sheen with a bigger techno focus. Their remix work includes versions of tracks by Romanthony, MASH and Grum.

Critical and industry support

Support for the group comes from Mixmag and DJ Magazine, both of which identify Mia Dora as an artist to watch. Their later Moda Black EPs are presented as key releases in establishing their profile as a production act emerging from the UK scene.
