Mercutio
Mercutio is a post-hardcore act that begins in 2009, when Michael Chagnon and Geoffrey Osborne, two friends from Lynchburg, start touring Florida with a new acoustic project they have put together in their final months at college. By 2010 they build a steady following in Virginia, leave their jobs, and move into a house that they convert into a recording studio and business office. Working from that base, the duo records its self-titled debut EP, which appears in late 2011.
Line-up and releases
In 2012 drummer Ken Brand joins for the sessions for the band’s debut album, Self Titled, which is released in February 2013. For the album tour, Ken brings in former bandmate Charlie Boyd on bass. After four weeks on the road, the line-up becomes fixed. The band’s core members are Michael Chagnon, Geoffrey Osborne and Ken Brand.
Activity and performances
Mercutio appears on ABC, PBS, and independent radio across Virginia and North Carolina. The band also plays venues in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, DC, Richmond, and other cities in the region. After 500 shows, it still returns to Lynchburg to write, record and work on new material between weekly dates across the mid-Atlantic.
