Melle Brown

Melle Brown is a London-based music producer, DJ and radio host. Her work draws on house, soul, R&B, electronic and UK garage, with a sound that also moves through neo-soul, tech house, deep house and jazz. She is associated with Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce label and is described as a singer-free, groove-led artist whose productions and DJ mixes focus on sunrise and sunset dance settings.

Releases

Brown first gains wider attention with the Intersection EP on Future Bounce. The release features GRAMMY-nominated Tiana Major9 and earns strong support from figures including Elton John, Toddla T, MistaJam, Tom Ravenscroft, Trevor Nelson and Gilles Peterson. She later releases singles including Brown Eyes featuring Angelina and fromLondon, One More Chance, and Night Drift featuring Loie, the last of these appearing on Monki’s & Friends label.

Her catalogue also includes remixes for Diplo and Mark Knight. In 2022 she releases Feel About You featuring Annie Mac, and the track is named among Billboard’s best dance tracks of the year. The release also receives remixes from HoneyLuv, DJ Koze and Sean McCabe.

Broadcasting and industry work

Alongside her releases, Brown works as a broadcaster and interviewer. She interviews Nile Rodgers and Fraser T Smith for Apple Music Creative Studios, takes part in She Is The Music mentorship with Fred Again and Kamille, and hosts her own show on Reprezent Radio. She also covers BBC Radio 1’s Future Dance for Sarah Story.

Brown becomes a Defected resident DJ after winning the Unsung Heroes 2022 competition.

Live sets

She performs at events and festivals including Boomtown Festival, Defected: Croatia, Parklife, Lost & Found, Field Day, Night Tales, Tobacco Dock, Ministry of Sound and Motion. She also plays for Ewan McVicar’s Handpicked at Motion and appears in support slots for Tibasko at Brixton Jamm, Kerri Chandler at KOKO and Patrick Topping’s Trick Printworks closing party.
