Mella Dee

Mella Dee is the alias of Ryan Aitchison, a UK producer and DJ from Doncaster who develops a sound built from techno, house, hardcore and jungle influences. He grows up in South Yorkshire, and the warehouse parties and club music associated with that scene shape his early musical outlook.

Style and influences

His music draws on the work of Underground Resistance, Floorplan and Head High, and focuses on driving techno with elements of house and the harder edges of hardcore and jungle. He also takes influence from warehouse music and the wider audio palette of UK and international rave culture, including hardcore, house, bleeps and techno.

Releases and support

Mella Dee releases music on DEXT Recordings, Dusky’s 17 Steps and the Swedish label Omena Records. His work receives support from Alan Fitzpatrick, Bicep, Skream, Tijana T, George Fitzgerald and Len Faki.

Label project

He also pursues a label project intended to reflect his own approach to warehouse-influenced club music.
