Mel Blatt is an English singer and a member of All Saints. She is born at University College Hospital in the London Borough of Camden, raised in England and France, and has a French Jewish mother and a Jewish father whose family has roots in Poland and Russia. Her younger sister is Jasmine Blatt.

All Saints

Blatt first meets Shaznay Lewis at the Metamorphisis recording studio in All Saints Road, London, and they begin recording together. With Simone Rainford, they form All Saints 1.9.7.5, which later becomes All Saints after Rainford leaves and Nicole and Natalie Appleton join the group. All Saints becomes the act with which Blatt is most widely associated.

Solo work

As a solo performer, Blatt has a mixed chart history. Her biggest solo success is "TwentyFourSeven", a collaboration with The Artful Dodger, which reaches number 6 in September 2001. She also works on an album with Matt Hales of Aqualung, with the track "See Me" included on the Robots soundtrack in 2005 and issued as a single with a video using footage from the film. During 2005, she plays small UK venues and performs songs from the album she is developing, including "In Your Arms", "I Don't Mind", "Now You're Gone", "No Lullaby" and "Love Sweet Love".

Personal life

Blatt has a daughter, Lilyella, with former partner Stuart Zender, the former bassist with Jamiroquai. Her stage and recording work is separate from her family life, and she is also described as being named after Melanie Safka.

All Saints reunion

On 24 January 2006, All Saints reform with a new record contract and later release Studio 1 in November 2006. Blatt's solo album is shelved in favour of the reunion.
