Mega
Mega is a contemporary soul artist from London. She makes emotive songs built around themes of self-esteem, self-love and personal growth, and her music draws on the soul and power-ballad traditions associated with singers such as Amy Winehouse, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill and Whitney Houston.
Career
She makes her first major impact with the single “Chariot”, which gains more than 25 million streams on Spotify. Her second single, “Let me Let You Go”, is selected by Jack Saunders for BBC Radio 1’s Future Artists strand and also appears on the Brit Awards’ Sunday Spotlight. Both tracks feature on her six-track EP Future Me, which is released at the end of 2020.
Her early work receives support from Mahogany, NME, Wonderland Magazine, The Clash Magazine and The Independent, as well as BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC London. In 2021, she signs with Nettwerk Music Group and continues to play festivals and record new music. She also supports Self Esteem on a UK headline tour.
Style and influences
Mega’s songs focus on lived experience and are shaped by the music she grows up with. Her writing combines reflective lyrics with melodic, soul-based arrangements.
