Meet Me In St. Louis

Meet Me In St. Louis are a United Kingdom group from Guildford, Surrey. They are active between 2005 and 2008 and play indie rock, math rock and post-hardcore. The band forms in 2005 and takes its name from the 1944 film of the same title.

They sign to Function Records and BSM Records in England, and to Denovali Records in Germany. Their line-up includes Lewis Reynolds on bass, and Toby Hayes as vocalist. The band also has Paul Philips, Oliver Knowles and Jodie Cox among its later associated members and collaborators in related projects.

The group releases two EPs, a split release with labelmates Secondsmile, and tracks on several compilations before issuing their first LP, Variations on Swing, which receives a nationwide release in 2007. The band then announces that Toby Hayes leaves, before confirming in early 2008 that the group ends after a final show at the Queen Charlotte in Norwich.

After the split, Lewis Reynolds plays in Colour, while Toby Hayes works on the solo project Shoes and Socks Off. Oliver Knowles fills in for Daniel Neal of Yndi Halda on an American tour and appears on the Secondsmile album Years. Reynolds and Knowles later join Paul Philips in Tropics alongside former Bullet Union member Jodie Cox. In 2016, the band announces reunion shows and festival dates.

An unofficial “Meet Me In St. Louis Day” is created by the band’s label, Big Scary Monsters Recording Company, and takes place on 24 September 2008.
