Medusa

Medusa is an Austrian psychedelic rock group from Wien, active since 2006. The band first appears in late 2006 and develops an 80s-influenced rock sound, with the biography also associating it with heavy metal, hardcore, thrash metal, sludge and NWOBHM.

Early activity and live profile

In 2007, the band attracts wider attention in the UK after being mentioned in the national press. It plays live at venues and events including Camden Underworld, Manchester Academy, M-Two, Liverpool’s Cavern Club and the Nice ’n’ Sleazy Festival. The group is presented as combining rock ’n’ roll and punk elements, and is compared to a blend of Nirvana, Van Halen and the Sex Pistols.

Recordings

Medusa releases Can’t Fucking Win in 2011, with mixes from producer Romesh Dodangoda. In 2014, the band releases its third album, Headcase’s Handbook, which is made available through the band’s own website, where its music can be downloaded.

Notable controversy and publicity

The band again appears in the newspapers in 2012 following a story connected to a dwarf who stars in the video for the song Tinkerbell.
