Mean Red Spiders
Mean Red Spiders are a Canadian alternative rock band from Toronto, Ontario, formed in September 1993 and active since then. Their music is centred on guitar work and is influenced by psychedelic music. It uses distortion, digital keyboard loops, recorded voice samples and effects pedals, building layered, repeatable arrangements with vocals. Their live performances also use projected screen images and liquid light techniques.
Sound and style
The band is associated with alternative rock and rock, and their sound is also described in relation to shoegaze, dream pop and space rock. Their music is shaped by dense effects and a wall-of-sound approach, with a strong emphasis on texture and atmosphere.
