Me and My Drummer

Me and My Drummer are a German indie pop and dream pop group made up of Charlotte Brandi and Matthias Pröllochs. Brandi and Pröllochs meet through theatre work, where they first make music for plays before developing a project of their own. The duo build their sound around pianos, synths, vocals and drums, and they establish a distinctive style shaped by the contrast between their different ideas and approaches.

Formation and sound

The group’s early work grows out of collaboration in theatrical settings, then extends into travel and recording away from those original circumstances. Their music reflects that process: it is written from a shared creative language, but it also carries traces of disagreement, revision and experimentation. The result is described in terms of open, personal songwriting, with Brandi’s voice set against instrumental arrangements led by keys and drums.

Debut album

Their debut album, The Hawk, The Beak, The Prey, brings together ten tracks that draw on the band’s earlier work and creative development. It is presented as a highly personal release, with the group’s history and artistic background embedded in the songs. The album centres on a mixture of melody, atmosphere and direct emotional expression.
