MC Skibadee is the stage name of Alfonso Bondzie, a drum and bass MC from London, England. He starts out on City Sound Radio around 1993, where he develops a reputation on the microphone and later appears regularly at events including Thunder & Joy and Spirit of the Jungle.

He then moves on to Kool FM, which helps establish his profile in the drum and bass scene. By the end of 1995 he is resident for several drum and bass outlets and events, including Kool FM, Fever, T & J, Malachite, Electrybe, NJC, Designer Label Ball and Innersense.

Projects and collaborations

In late 1997, he and MC Dett launch 2Xfreestyle, a project built around drum and bass tempo over a hip-hop beat to create a doubletime effect. The project’s single Inside Me and its video gain attention and are accepted by MTV and The Box.

From 2000 onwards, he works with MC Shabba D, also known as Shabba D or Shabbas. This collaboration develops into the drum and bass partnership S.A.S., also known as Skiba and Shabba. He also forms a later group with MC Fun and MC Harry Shotta called the Uncontrollablez, or UNCZ, with Kool FM resident DJ RuffStuff as their DJ.

Recognition

He begins collecting awards in 1999, when he wins the first of three Knowledge Awards for best MC, along with three Accelerated Culture Awards. He later wins the 1Xtra Award for best MC in 2006, the Best MC Southwest Drum and Bass Award in 2007, and Best Lyrical MC and Best Hype MC at the national Drum and Bass Awards in 2008 and 2009.
