Mayra Orchestra is a Dutch progressive rock band and cinematic pop orchestra led by songwriter and singer Maartje Dekker from Rotterdam. The group combines classical, pop and world music influences, and its sound is described through richly arranged orchestral pop elements.

Recording and releases

The band releases World Of Wonder as a CD and DVD package. It is the group's debut album and features detailed arrangements built around piano, cello, violin, oboe, harp, glockenspiel, brass, choirs and synthesizers. The recording is mastered by Darcy Proper, whose credits include work with R.E.M., Steely Dan, Porcupine Tree, Metropole Orchestra and Kansas, and it is completed at Wisseloord Studios.

Performance style

Mayra Orchestra presents a theatrical live show built around more than an hour of music. The performances include video projections, circus acts, dancers, costumes and self-made instruments.
