Max Frost is a producer and songwriter from Austin, Texas, signed to Atlantic Records. Born Matthew Alexander Frost in 1992, he begins making music at eight and starts performing live at 12. His early work spans a range of projects during his teen years, and he collaborates with artists including Austin musician Bob Schneider and hip-hop MC and producer Kydd.

After hearing artists such as Erykah Badu and D’Angelo in his late teens, Frost starts folding hip-hop elements into blues-based material, combining modern rhythmic ideas with older, vintage tones. He studies English at the University of Texas at Austin before leaving in 2012 to focus on a solo career.

Frost releases the single “White Lies,” which reaches number one on The Hype Machine’s list of most popular blog tracks. He uses its success to launch his debut EP, Low High Low, issued by Atlantic Records. The EP is built around the idea of emotional extremes, with titles and production shaped by the contrast between low-fi and high-fi sounds. “White Lies” also appears in a Beats Electronics commercial in 2013.
