Matthias Tanzmann is a DJ and producer from Leipzig, Germany, active since the mid-1990s. He begins his career playing regularly at the Distillery club in Leipzig, and his early production work appears under the name Gamat 3000, alongside Daniel Scholz.

Early releases

His first release as Gamat 3000 appears on Dessous Recordings, followed by further releases on Freude Am Tanzen, Lo-Fi Stereo and FM Musik. Tanzmann’s work is associated with minimal, techno, tech house, house and electronic music.

Moon Harbour Recordings and Cargo Edition

In 2000, Tanzmann founds Moon Harbour Recordings. The label becomes closely associated with deep-house and tech-house, and it releases many of his own records as well as music by Luna City Express, Marlow, Martinez and Dan Drastic. He later founds Cargo Edition in 2006, where releases by Michael Melchner, Ekkohaus, Markus Schatz, Sven Tasnadi, Vera and Juno6 appear. He also works under the aliases Sensual Tones and Deep Drawn.

DJ career and residencies

The success of his labels helps expand his DJ career, which takes him widely across club and festival dates internationally. Since 2007, he holds a residency with the Circoloco party series at DC10 in Ibiza, and he also performs regularly at Circoloco events beyond the island.

Albums, remixes and recognition

His first solo album, Restless, appears on Moon Harbour in 2006. Alongside his own releases, he is also a sought-after remixer, with remix work for Moby, 2000 and One, Josh Wink and Booka Shade. His appearances in Ibiza and at Circoloco events lead to three consecutive nominations at the Ibiza DJ Awards.
