Matthew Hawtin is a Canadian electronic artist known for marathon ambient sets in the chill-out rooms of 1990s Detroit parties such as Hardest, Spastik and Heaven and Hell. He builds a reputation in the ambient and downtempo side of club culture rather than in the main-room techno circuit.

He also performs at European festivals including Sonar, Time Warp and Tribal Gathering. Hawtin is Richie Hawtin’s brother, and the pair are associated with the project names Hard Trax and The Hard Brothers.
