Matta

Matta is a British electronic production duo from the United Kingdom, made up of Andy and James. The pair form in 2009 after meeting at music college.

Style and releases

Matta specialise in dance-floor-oriented bass music, with associations to dubstep, glitch, electronic and dubtronic. Their releases appear on labels including Ad Noiseam, Black Butter, Boka and Subway Records.

Performances and reception

The duo play parties and festivals internationally, including Secret Garden Party and Maschinenfest. Their music receives support from artists including Bjork, The Prodigy, Bastille and Laurent Garnier.

Media appearances

Matta’s music features in television advertising campaigns for Audi and Childline, and in programmes including Misfits and So You Think You Can Dance. Their track “Release The Freq” is the release most associated with their online plays across YouTube and Vimeo.
