Matt Johnson is a British musician and songwriter from London, England, best known as the founder and only constant member of the band The The. He is associated with post-punk, alternative, indie rock, funk and electronica.

The The and solo work

Johnson forms The The as a multimedia band and remains its only constant member. He also appears as a member of The Gadgets and Marc And The Mambas. Under his own name, he releases Burning Blue Soul in 1981 on 4AD.
