Matt Berry
Matt Berry is an English actor, writer and musician, born in 1974 in Bromham, Bedfordshire. He is also known as a comedian and works as a multi-instrumentalist with the Matt Berry Trio.
As a musician, Berry is associated with folk, psychedelic, country-rock, new age synthesizer music and progressive rock. His recordings often draw on British folk, wistful psychedelia and rambling prog rock, and he has a reputation for a deep, booming voice. He also performs with a straight delivery that suits the material he writes and records.
Berry releases music with Acid Jazz and makes albums that explore different styles. Kill the Wolf (2013) focuses on pastoral folk-rock, Music for Insomniacs (2014) moves into new age synthesizer music, Phantom Birds (2020) leans towards country-rock, and Blue Elephant (2021) explores psychedelia. Across these records he plays multiple instruments and uses a strong sense of melody and hooks.
Alongside his music, Berry is known for creating many characters for British and American television. His work as an actor and musician gives him a profile that spans comedy, television and recorded music.
