Matinee

Matinee is a name used by at least two different acts: a short-lived Leeds-based two-piece, and a Greek two-piece experimental and post-punk group.

Leeds-based band

The Leeds line-up forms from the remains of Trampoline and features James Heward and Daniel Austin, who later plays in Horton Parks. It is a short-lived two-piece from Leeds.

Greek two-piece

The Greek Matinee is a two-piece formed in 2006 after John and Panagiotis meet in a cafe in Ioannina, where John works. John lives in Ioannina, reads widely, writes a lot and is interested in art, though he is not mainly a musician. Panagiotis grows up in Patras, surrounded by speakers, microphones, mixers, guitars and computers, and is the musician of the pair.

They bring together different and sometimes opposing influences and make music from a mixture of theatrical and gothic lyrics, bass riffs, electronic elements, synths and jagged post-punk guitar parts. They write everything together. Their music is described as experimental and post-punk.
