MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS
MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS are a Japanese alternative rock group from Kobe, Japan, active from 2002. They are also known by the shortened name Masu Dore (マスドレ). The group is associated with j-rock, post-hardcore and shoegaze, and their sound is described as tightly arranged and guitar-driven, with melodic pop vocals and a high-energy live presence.
History
The band forms in Kobe in 2002 and later reforms in 2015. At one point they are a trio, and the final lineup before disbanding includes 宮本菜津子 (Miyamoto Natsuko) on vocals and bass and 吉野功 (Yoshino Tsutomu) on drums and vocals. Ex-members include 石本知恵美 (Chiemi Ishimoto) on guitar and vocals, and 後藤玲子 (Reiko Gotoh) on drums and vocals. The band announces a disbandment in 2012, then returns with new members in 2015.
Releases and label work
The band signs to the Japanese indie rock label AVOCADO Records from the release of their self-titled EP in 2008. Their recorded output includes the demo kirametal, the self-titled EP MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS, ワールド イズ ユアーズ, the single ひきずるビート/まで。, ゼロコンマ、色とりどりの世界, No New World, Awakening:Sleeping, and LIVE IN JAPAN.
