Martin Rossiter is a singer and songwriter from Wales, United Kingdom, born in 1970. He is based in England and is known for his work as the frontman of Gene, the band that first brings him to public attention in the 1990s and goes on to sell a million records worldwide.

Raised in South Wales, he grows up singing hymns by Charles Wesley and listening to Shirley Bassey. His style is described as combining bleak and beautiful elements with wit, tenderness and strong melodies, and he is noted for a flamboyant, irreverent stage presence. Gene is his only listed band membership.

After an eight-year break from the music industry, he prepares to release his debut solo album, The Defenestration of St Martin. His work is associated with singer-songwriter, britpop, alternative pop and nu-jazz, reflecting both his solo activity and his earlier profile with Gene.
