Martin Parker is a composer, sound designer and improviser who works with laptop-based electronics. His work centres on encounters between computers, people and places. Based in Edinburgh, he performs and collaborates internationally with theatre companies, symphony orchestras, visual artists and ensembles.

Work and projects

His projects include Filament, an interactive sound installation commissioned by the ISCM in the Tyrol, and Grab, a piece for computer and instruments written for Joby Burgess’ New Noise Ensemble. He also develops Songs for an Airless Room, an interactive sound theatre piece featuring vocalist Phil Minton and touring in cinemas.

Other roles

Parker is Artistic Director of Edinburgh’s Dialogues Festival and is one third of the improvisation ensemble lapslap.
