Martijn Ten Velden

Martijn ten Velden is a DJ, producer and remixer associated with house, dance, electro house and electro music. He works internationally as a performer and producer, and his sets are described as drawing on twisted electro and minimal styles.

DJ and live work

He plays at clubs and venues in a range of countries, including Renaissance in London, Redlight in Paris, Peppermint in Dubai, Godskitchen and Ministry of Sound. Alongside club performances, he spends much of his time in the studio working on solo productions and remixes.

Production work

His original productions include “I Wish You Would”, which becomes a major Ibiza anthem during the summer of 2006 and 2007. Other releases listed under his name include “Together” on Phonetic Recordings, the 2006 “I Wish U Would” release, and earlier work such as the “Sureshot EP” on Nocturnal Groove. He also works through collaborations and project names including Splitter, a partnership with Mark Yardley of the Stanton Warriors, and material with Mark Knight for Toolroom Records. Earlier projects include Audio Drive, Zeus and Osiris, The Hedgetrimmerz and DJ:MTV vs Fierce & Jez.

Remixes and collaborations

Ten Velden remixes a wide range of dance tracks and pop records. His remix credits include Shapeshifters’ “Chime”, Heller & Farley Project’s “Ultra Flava”, Bodyrox featuring Luciana’s “What Planet You On”, Mason’s “Exceeder”, Rock Steady Crew’s “Hey You!”, Soul Central’s “Need You Now” and “Strings of Life”, Steve Lawler’s “Lost”, and Natasha Bedingfield’s “Single”. He also remixes material for labels including Defected Records, Toolroom Records, Phonetic Recordings, Stealth Records, Positiva and Yoshitoshi.

Recognition

He receives support from DJs including Roger Sanchez, Deep Dish and Steve Lawler. In 2006, he is nominated for Best Artist and Outstanding Remix at the House Music Awards. His compilation Toolroom Knights Vol 1 on Toolroom Records is also nominated for Best Compilation at the 2008 International Dance Music Awards.

Recorded output

His discography includes many releases and remixes across the 1990s and 2000s, with labels such as Phonetic Recordings, Toolroom Trax, Eye Industries, Defected Records, Universal, Ministry of Sound, Positiva, Island, BMG and EMI/Warner Bros. These credits show work across house, dance and electronic contexts, both as a solo artist and as part of collaborative studio projects.
