Marques Toliver is a singer-songwriter, violinist and multi-instrumentalist from Tallahassee, Florida, born in 1987 and raised in Daytona Beach. He begins performing after early exposure to southern vocal styles, which shape his singing approach. He later learns violin, receives formal training, and continues his musical education in college.

Style and instruments

His music draws on urban, classical and philosophical influences. His songs deal with human awareness and existence, often with a humorous tone. Toliver also plays guitar and piano, in addition to violin and voice. He takes up guitar in winter 2005.
