Markus Fix
Markus Fix is a Frankfurt am Main, Germany–based DJ and electronic music artist associated with minimal, minimal techno, tech house, house and techno. He begins with a Behringer 3-channel mixer he receives as a gift in 1992, and names Kraftwerk, Yello and Off among the acts that help shape his interest in electronic dance music.
Early development
He visits the Omen club in Frankfurt for the first time in 1994, where Sven Väth, DJ Dag and Frank Lorber are among the DJs he hears. Two years later he starts performing himself, using the name J.R.Fix junior in Frankfurt clubs until 2004.
Projects and residencies
In 2000, Markus Fix and two DJ friends found the project 2000 and begin working in parallel as a resident at the Frankfurt stage bar helium. He later holds a notable residency at U60311, where he develops his sound further. He is also active in the Frankfurt scene as a booker for the event agency Rich and Famous, and he organises the open-air event Karotte und sein feines Gemüse.
Style, labels and performances
His music combines deephouse, techhouse and minimal-techno. The labels in his record case include Perlon, raummusik and Tuning Spork. He plays alongside DJs including DJ T., Tiefschwarz, Dominik Eulberg, Loco Dice, Tobi Neumann, Ewan Pearson, Martin Landsky, Dinky, Troy Pierce, Vera, Dorian Paic and Chris Titjen, among others.
His appearances include clubs such as Robert-Johnson in Offenbach, Airport in Würzburg, Room 106 in Darmstadt, Kinzo and Deep in Berlin. He is also one part of the DJ duo Fix und Fertig, which begins playing in German clubs in 2004. In August 2004, he becomes a resident at the Monza club because of his sound and growing local profile.
