MarkOne

MarkOne, also known as MRK1, is a Manchester producer associated with grime, dubstep, sublow and the wider Forward scene. He first appears on his own Contagious label and goes on to release material on a range of labels including Polydor’s P Records, Soulja, Tempa, Texture, Immunity, Hard Livin, Vehicle, Southside, A.R.M.Y, Contagious and Rephlex.

Career

He begins attracting attention after one of his early tracks is played at Forward, which helps establish his place in that scene. He also appears in magazines such as Deuce, Mixmag, B&S and Touch, and is nominated for Best Grime Producer at the 2003 Sidewinder awards. His work includes appearances on compilation albums and releases connected to the Rephlex Grime compilation.

Collaborations and live work

MarkOne signs Plasticman to Contagious and brings him into Virus Syndicate. He performs with Virus Syndicate, who have a show on Rinse FM, and plays across the UK and internationally, including at One Nation in Germany. Rephlex also takes MarkOne and Plasticman on a US tour.
