Mark Reeve is a DJ and producer from Poole, Dorset in southern England, based in electronic music with a sound often described as a blend of tech house and techno. He starts DJing publicly at 16, with early appearances in youth clubs in England, and later builds a career playing clubs in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the UK.

Background

Reeve develops an interest in electronic music at 12, first through breakbeat and drum and bass. After his family moves from England to Germany, he encounters house and techno records for the first time, and those styles become central to his work. His family has a background as singers and entertainers, which he identifies as the origin of his musical talent.

DJ career

By 2004, Reeve holds his first residency at Nachtcafe in Darmstadt, followed six months later by a residency at Deep Club in Heidelberg. He continues working as a DJ across several European countries, with more than 15 years of experience in clubs in Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the UK.

Productions and releases

Reeve begins releasing productions in 2005 with bootleg and white promo material. In 2007, The Fabolous - Amelie reaches 5th place in the Discomania vinyl sales charts and spends five weeks at number one on Decks Record’s house charts. He later releases Haciendo Musica on the Italian label Starlight Music after working in a latin and tech-house style for two years.

Another release, The Pied Piper, receives positive feedback and includes a remix by Paul Cooper of Stealth Records. The track is played widely by major DJs. In 2010, Reeve produces Move On, with a remix by Tapesh, and the track receives many plays internationally and appears on BigCitybeats Vol. 12. That same year, Tapesh and Reeve collaborate again on two tracks for Defected, included on Defected Ibiza albums. Also in 2010, his track Carlito, released on Starlight Music, appears in the Beatport house top 10 and the main top 20 charts.

Reeve’s work is associated with house, techno, minimal techno and tech house. He is linked in the input to labels including Starlight Music, Defected, Viva Music, Soulman Music, CR2 and Stealth Records through releases, remixes, collaborations or stated ambitions to release on them.
