Mark Broom is a British techno producer and DJ from the United Kingdom, born in 1971. He begins making music after discovering acid house in Tenerife in the summer of 1989 and returning to England to buy turntables and search out the music for himself.

Early development

After playing at private parties for a few years, Broom starts producing his own tracks. A friend introduces him to Ed and Andy from Black Dog Productions, and together they create his first musical ideas. These early recordings are issued on General Production Records. He then spends time at UXB Studios, run by Dave Hill, and this leads to a longer creative and business partnership between the two.

Pure Plastic Recordings and releases

In 1994, Broom and Dave Hill launch Pure Plastic Recordings, a label that becomes home to a large part of his output. His releases on the label include the LP Angie Is A Shoplifter and the EP Rave Days. He also records for other labels including A13, Ifach, Speaker Attack, Mosaic, Dark House Music and New Electronica. Verified label credits also include Pure Plastic and Rewired.

Style, DJ work and remixes

Broom works in techno, minimal, minimal techno, tech house and electronic music. As a DJ, he plays at clubs including Belgium’s FUSE and La Real in Spain. He also remixes artists such as Eddie Flashin’ Fowlkes, Ken Ishii, Ben Sims, Samuel L. Session and The Advent.
