Marika Hackman

Marika Hackman is a British singer-songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist from Hampshire and based in Brighton. Born in 1992, she works in folk, indie folk and singer-songwriter styles.

Background

Hackman is of Finnish descent and has lived in Devon, Brighton and London. She attends Bedales School, where she meets Cara Delevingne.

Early projects and career

At Bedales, Hackman and Delevingne form a short-lived band, with Hackman on drums and Delevingne on guitar and vocals. Johnny Flynn also studies at the school, knows Hackman’s music and helps secure her first record deal with Transgressive. He also produces her debut single.

Tours and activity

In 2013, Hackman tours Australia and Europe as an opening act for Laura Marling.
