Margot

Margot is an Italian DJ and producer duo made up of Stefano Serafini and Daniel Valanti. The group has been active since 2005 and works in electronic music, with references to techno, house and minimal styles.

Background

Both musicians begin their involvement with music at a young age. Stefano Serafini starts studying rhythmics at 14, while Daniel Valanti first plays piano and sings at 14. By 16, they both become strongly interested in electronic music. They go on to work for more than ten years in underground clubs in Rimini and elsewhere in Italy, including Cocoricò, Classic Club and Echoes.

Work and releases

Margot release a number of projects and tracks that circulate among well-known Italian and international DJs. These include Every Monday under the name Giaga Robot, Autumn, Torch with M.Makers, Bratislava Story as Russian linesman, Lutammato, and Goblin Think, which appears on their own label and is played by James Holden for many months. The duo also perform live sets using vinyl, software, effects and improvisation.

Style

Their work is associated with underground club culture and an original, changing approach to live performance. The name also appears elsewhere in music, but this act is the Italian electronic duo.
