Marcus Malone

Marcus Malone is a Detroit-born blues rock guitarist and singer. He is first signed by Al Teller of United Artists Records, later known as EMI Capitol, and then relocates to Los Angeles, where he records the heavy metal album Marcus. That album is later re-released by Zoom Records in Europe and the United States.

Recording career

Malone records Marcus with Gene Black on guitar, Sandy Genero on drums and Tim Bogart of Vanilla Fudge on bass. He later writes, produces and records One More Time for Redline Music. The title track appears on Blueprint 99 – The Best of British Blues. His second album, Walkin' Shoes, is released on Redline Music and includes the track Take It To Heart on Blues In Britain 2002 – The Best of British Blues.

His third album, Blue Radio, is released in early 2005 and includes guest appearances from Paul Jones and Papa George. The song Mama Said appears on The Best of British Blues for 2005. His fourth album, Hurricane, is released in March 2007 and is received positively in rock and blues magazines.

Performance history

Malone performs at the Royal Albert Hall and at festivals including Burnley, Colne, Harlebeke Blues Festival in Belgium, Bospop in Holland, and Valdagno (Vicenza) Blues Festival in Italy. He also tours the European blues circuit, playing festivals and concert halls in Belgium and Holland. In 2003 he appears at major UK festivals including Colne, Maryport, Stanley, Warrington, Warners and Darlington. In summer 2006 he performs at Blues on the Farm, Devizes, Linton, Wye and Darlington, where he opens for the Yardbirds.

Later work

Malone records Let The Sunshine In in the UK with his touring band, including Stuart Dixon on guitar, Chris Nugent on drums and Johan Buys on bass. The title song is co-written with Gene Black, who plays guitar in the original Marcus band and later with Joe Cocker. The album also features Dan Smith of Noisettes, Julian Burdock of 24 Pesos, Robin Bibi of the Robin Bibi Band, Sean Nolan, Moz Gamble of 24 Pesos, Richard Newman of Rory Gallagher, and Jamie Lawrence of Jet Tricks.
