Marc Otway

Marc Otway is a Leeds-based musician and songwriter. He starts playing music as a child, with an early solo glockenspiel performance at his infant school concert, and takes up drum lessons at the age of 12. He goes on to join school rock bands, win battle of the band competitions, and play gigs around Leeds.

Musical training and instruments

Otway develops as a multi-instrumentalist. After learning guitar at 15, he quickly becomes an advanced player and begins playing lead guitar in school rock bands. He also studies singing and piano on a BTEC course, where he earns a distinction grade.

Education and composition

He studies popular music at Leeds College of Music, specialising in composition. He also works as an arranger and has credits as a composer and arranger for television.

Performance career

As a solo artist, Otway performs around Leeds as a singer-songwriter. He is also associated with the group Issimo.
