Maps is the project of UK indie rock artist James Chapman, based in Wellingborough, United Kingdom. He makes electronic-leaning music that sits across alternative rock, electro, electronic, indie rock and indietronica, and the act is also associated with indie, shoegaze, dream pop and indie pop.

Career

Maps is Chapman’s recording name. August joins for live performances. The project’s debut album, We Can Create, appears on Mute Records and is shortlisted for the 2007 Mercury Music Prize. The profile of the project rises with that recognition, and support from fans includes the Chemical Brothers.

The second album Turning the Mind follows We Can Create. The download-only single Let Go Of The Fear appears from the second album cycle before Turning the Mind is released.
