Maplerun

Maplerun is a Greek rock band that forms in 2003 and remains active. Based in Europe, the group is a four-piece act that plays modern rock with nu-metal and alternative rock elements, and it is also associated with hard rock, alt. metal and nu-rock.

Style and influences

The band combines several rock and metal styles, drawing on a wide range of influences. These include Metallica, System of a Down, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Tool, Coldplay, Radiohead, Katatonia, Godsmack, Creed and Staind.

Releases and recording

Maplerun records its debut album, House on Fire, over four months between September and December 2007. The album is produced by the band itself. Its second album, Restless, appears in 2012. The band’s releases also include a Tour EP from 2010, a live DVD titled Live in Belgium 2010, and an acoustic performance filmed live in Athens in 2012.

Media, touring and live appearances

The release of House on Fire leads to appearances on Greek television, including Mad Day Live on Mad TV and Radio Arvila on Ant1 TV. The band receives substantial radio airplay and tours Belgium in 2009 and Greece in 2010 and 2011. It also tours Europe in 2010 while supporting Shadow Gallery. The single “For You” is broadcast on MTV Greece and is also featured in the video game Rock Band, available for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

Further work and collaborations

Restless is mastered by Ted Jensen and features artwork by Travis Smith. Metal Hammer Greece gives the album a premium placement in issue 334. In 2013, Maplerun supports Katatonia in Athens and plays with Dave Lombardo’s band Philm. The group also performs at Hard Rock Hell in Ibiza. Its management is handled by Black Radar Management in the UK.

The members hold the copyrights to their material and the group presents itself as ready to tour widely and perform for different audiences.
