Mano McLaughlin

Mano McLaughlin is a singer-songwriter from Manchester, England. He is born in 1969 and grows up in a large musical family, where music is part of everyday life from an early age. He writes and plays music throughout his life and performs in many bands over the years.

Recording and releases

His work includes material funded through deals with Chrysalis Records, BMG Publishing and other companies. In early 2013, Distilled Records asks him for 10 stripped-back songs, but he sends 30 demos instead, with a note asking the label to choose 10. Peach Got Bones is recorded in four days at his house.

Style and influences

His songs are described as stripped-back and direct, with simple imagery and strong musical phrasing. The material is associated with an English pop sensibility and with the intensity of Elliott Smith, while also drawing comparison with Ray Davies. His playing and production are understated, and his writing is noted for combining words and melodies with ease.
