Mann Friday
Mann Friday are a Zimbabwean group, active since 1998 and now based in London. They build a sound that combines melodic rock, emotive lyrics, acoustic material, African rhythms and smooth electronica. Their writing is also noted for its lyrical approach.
Releases
The group releases an independent album titled Blue Sky Science. They also work on a follow-up album called Waiting for the Flash. A song titled Gone Fishing appears in summer 2007, and another track, Counting Down, is used on Sky News’ Year in Review.
Live work and recognition
Mann Friday build a loyal following on the London live circuit and perform at venues including The Borderline, Bull & Gate, Halfmoon Putney, Camden Barfly, the Clapham Grand and the Marquee Club. They headline the Halfmoon Putney five times in a row, break a record at Camden Barfly, and appear at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in an award-winning featured performance. They are also invited to perform a topical rock show at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith for a ten-day summer run.
