Mandrake Handshake

Mandrake Handshake are a psychedelic collective from Oxford, United Kingdom. They form in 2018 and work across psychedelic rock, psychedelic, krautrock, art pop, jazz and post-punk, with the group also linked to indie rock.

The band takes its name from a song by The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Their music draws on krautrock, funk, Japanese animation and Latin pastoral poetry, and they describe their style as “Flowerkraut”. They present this as music for dancing freely or for reflective listening, with a vivid, exploratory character.

The group first connect with the indie label Nice Swan through its “Introduces...” series, in partnership with RIP Records. They later share label company with acts including Opus Kink, Malady and Anorak Patch.
